Gamification, Mobile Apps, and Automation: Day Two at NRA Show 2016

Day two of the National Restaurant Association’s NRA Show 2016 dawned bright and beautiful in Chicago! Restaurateurs and thought leaders returned to McCormick Place to chat everything related to service, talent retention, and technology.

The food continued to be a highlight for many attendees.

A favourite quote came courtesy of Dawn Sweeney, president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association. Her words echoed the pride that many attendees feel about the industry in which they work.

Robots were still a big hit on the second day. Conference-goers were treated to demos of Middleby Corporation robots using a fryer to make French fries.

Other talks focused on attracting millennials, tech adoption, and the importance of transparency in maintaining relationships with guests.

Dahlia El Gazzar, who spoke on Saturday about AI-based mobile apps, continued the discussion about mobile yesterday.

A talk on gamification, delivered by Lisa Eberhart, a registered dietitian at NC State University, highlighted how it can be used to engage both team members and guests, as well as promote healthy eating choices.
